Preface
All through the earlier years of my life, even into
adulthood, I've had countless ups and downs. I suppose
most people have accepted that as being the norm. However,
I have some great news! It doesn't have to be that way
anymore. From birth, my biological parents gave me up
for adoption, however I was adopted by a wonderful couple
who reared me as their own with all of the love and
affection that any child could dream of. During high
school, I was seriously ill in my senior year and was
hospitalized, therefore I couldn't graduate with my
classmates and had to attend summer school to receive
my diploma. That of course made it difficult for me
to enter a respectable university; furthermore, my father
informed me that if I wanted to attend college, I was
going to have to pay all of the expenses myself. My
Dad had come from the old school, so to speak, and believed
that if a boy was ever to become a man he had to make
it for himself. However, at that time in my life I thought
he was abandoning me, although now I understand the
wisdom of his actions; it was one of the best lessons
he ever taught me. Therefore, in order for me to pay
for school, I had to join the Navy, reluctantly that
is. I guess you could say, there weren't many other
options. Anyway, after a couple years of active duty
I was able to attend college on the G.I. bill, which
covered most of my tuition and book fees. It took a
little extra time for me to finish school, because I
had to work part-time throughout college, but I can
assuredly say, it was all worth it.
After graduating from university, I spent quite a few
years in and out of dead end jobs and small businesses
that I had started myself. You see I just wasn't satisfied
earning a salary-man's income. Actually, it was almost
impossible for someone with an undergraduate degree
who was earning an average wage just to survive, because
of the poor economic condition during those years. I
knew there had to be more out there and I was going
to find it. I even remember asking myself, how do successful
people achieve these greater things in life? My father
had always told me it was through hard work and diligence,
little by little. Well... part of that is true, but
it looked to me as though I was headed down that infamous
path to a dead end lifestyle. I thought, surely there
must be a reason why successful people were successful,
and you know what, there truly is.
It wasn't until my mid thirties, after I had been previously
married and divorced with a three-year old child to
support that I came across an old college friend who
introduced me to a company owned by two brothers that
promoted and taught P.M.A. or Positive Mental Attitude
to all of their staff. Even though the owners of this
establishment were highly successful, and had all of
the things in life that most of us dream of having,
it was clearly obvious that these guys were just a couple
of average fellows, nothing special in the least. However,
it occurred to me, if this P.M.A. thing worked for them,
surely it will work for anyone. Well... to make a long
story even longer, for the first time in my life, I
started listening to these principles of P.M.A. and
acted upon them. Let me tell you, the results were astounding,
it has changed my life beyond reason. It has put all
things into proper perspective for me, so now I'm delighted
to say that I have all of the things I've ever wanted.
I'm on track to obtain all of my personal and financial
goals; my life is finally balanced and filled with happiness.
Yours can be too! Therefore, and if you allow me, I'd
like to share these fundamental principles that I have
learned with you.
