A Brief History of USA:
The United States of America is commonly known as the U.S.A.
It consists of 50 states and the District of Columbia, which
represents the nations capital. Washington, D.C. was named
after the countries first president General George Washington.
America is governed as a democracy with a constitution being
its formidable bylaws that was signed by 39 founding fathers
in 1776. Currently, George W. Bush holds the elected office
of the presidency.
With the majority of its landmass located in central North
America, the U.S.A borders the Pacific Ocean to the west,
the Atlantic Oceans to the east, Canada to the north, and
Mexico to the south. Alaska is the largest state of America
and is located northwest of Canada.
Throughout the history of America, the U.S. has come to the
aid of many countries throughout the globe. Offering free
trade and security against hostile neighboring countries and
strategically positioning its foreign allies around the world,
the U.S. has become known as the modern day super power of
the world.
America is the most multicultural diverse nation in the world
today. With an approximate population of 300 million people,
it is estimated that .68% are Caucasian, .12% are Hispanic,
.11% are African American, .03% are Asian, .009% are Native
American, .001% are Pacific Islander, and .05% are of other
non-specified racial origin.
